This coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the University of Ljubljana.

The university was founded in part to help Slovenian students pursue their studies as the ending of the Habsburg monarchy effectively closed access to Austrian universities where previously many Slovenian students had studied.

The motif is simple and a bit strange. Towards the lower left of the coin is a square - this is the apparently the logo of the university.

At the top of the square is the inscription "100 let Univerze v Ljublani"(100 years of the University of Ljubljana).

Around the inner circle from six to three o'clock are the name of the issuing country and the year of issue - SLOVENIJA 2019.
