This coin commemorates the 200th anniversary of the grounding of the Dutch monarchy.
William I landed in 1813 and successfully fought for the independence of the Netherlands from France. He became the first Dutch sovereign.
The seven sovereigns of the Netherlands are depicted in an artistic manner by ribbon that forms their profiles. The largest profile represents the current monarch Willem-Alexander.
The ribbon then forms the six preceding sovereigns, each within the one succeeding him/her.
They are: Queen Beatrix, Queen Juliana, Queen Wilhelmina, King Willem III, King Willem II, King Willem I.
Around the edge of the inner circle is the inscription “Willem-Alexander Koning Der Nederlanden” and within this inscription, forming a semi-circle on the left is “200 Jaar Koninkrijk”.
The Dutch mint mark as well as the mint masters mark appear at five o’clock and the initials of the designer at seven o’clock.
